Why bungle it, Bangaleea?

Dear Hemant, You have so much money roaming around in the world that you should not only have no need to ever worry about anything for yourself, your needs or the needs for a couple of generations of your children. You do not have to work as your money which never sleeps is always working for you. You can buy yourself and your family citizenship in any part of the world you may set your sights on. So why bother about Mauritius? In this country the Banking authorities virtually harass you for evidence from all sorts of useless utilities before they decide to open an account in your name. You had no such problems in Singapore which conveniently did not ask you the KYC questions. For the uninitiated – and I doubt if there is any among the readers of this weekly piece – KYC stands for Know your Customer. Here, even when the banks know their customer, they still have to go through all the bureaucratese before opening an account of giving any loans. Singapore is effi cient and does not ask needless questions.
But for my own guidance, please me a line as to how you managed to take so much money out of Mauritius and fi nally to Singapore after making a transit in Switzerland. You are a genius.
By the way, Switzerland is no good any more as it has agreements to share information and intelligence with other countries. Your secrets would be in the open. You were right to head to Singapore. Singapore, which professes to be a clean fi nancial jurisdiction readily opened an account in your name. I am positive the size of your deposit did not have any infl uence on the Singaporean bank. Had the Singapore authorities done their due diligence they would have been told that you worked very hard as a driver in Mauritius and the money that you had with you was your own hard earned money. In case the Singapore banker had any qualms, you could have told him/ her that we in Mauritius invoke the help of divinities at all times and you were the only one whose invocations were heard up there. The gods answered all your prayers as you were their chosen one and they showered upon you the many millions of EUROs and US dollars which the local authorities are trying to snare you with. It is none of their business and they ought to leave you alone as they had done so far. You were free to travel the world with your loaded suitcases.
This must continue. The gods knew that you would eventually travel to Singapore as the relationship between Mauritius and Singapore is governed by Confi - dentiality clauses like the National Identity Card contract. So you are safe in Singapore.
So why did you bungle the Goa connection and why did you not share the immense bounty that you have amassed? A man of your standing has, in the Goa case, acted like a subcontractor? Obviously, you are not a hired gunor rather a hired conveyor of packed suitcases with hard currency. By the way, the Singapore dollar is very strong and once again you have great investment acumen. So long.
