Anticompetitive behavior in Pre-election Coalition

‘Anticompetitive behavior in Pre-election Coalition’ is a comment posted on ‘Rencontre Ramgoolam-Bérenger après la réunion du bureau politique du MMM’.
As I took note of the online radio “breaking news” on the confirmation of a meeting between the PTR and MMM leaders on Monday night, I could not help relate the impending pre-electoral coalition to anticompetitive behavior in business. At least in that area, we now have the Competition Commission to carry out due diligence and give customers a voice against such practices detrimental to society.
A “monopolistic” pre-electoral coalition is unfortunately not subject to such scrutiny despite the fact that it limits choice for voters on the most fundamental privilege they have as citizens.
I would very much like to be proven wrong if this coalition indeed leads to a strong government, which is less held hostage by lobbies, and which will restructure our society positively.
But the voice within me says that this pending coalition aims more to preserve the same clique of politicians who have overdone their stay.
There is no reason to place electoral reform at the top of the political agenda after the upcoming election. It can be done right now BEFORE the elections.
I do feel sorry for the new faces showcased of late by the MMM but who will certainly not feature among that party quota of 25 candidates. The lack of renewal in the political ranks does not augur well for our country.
I do not feel good at all about this coalition: Do you?
