Applications are invited from suitable candidates outside the service, below the age of 63 years, who wish to be considered for enlistment as Supply Teacher for the teaching of the subjects listed below in State Secondary Schools/Colleges, including pre-vocational classes.  

Computer Studies

Mandarin

Music (Western)

Physical Education

Physics

Supply Teachers will be enlisted on a purely temporary basis, as and when required during the academic year 2014.

2.         QUALIFICATIONS AND REMUNERATION

2.1       Candidates should possess a Degree or a joint Degree or a Diploma from a recognized institution or a Cambridge Higher School Certificate or passes in at least 2 subjects obtained on one certificate at the GCE “A” level including the subject to be taught  (wherever applicable) or any other qualification acceptable to the Ministry.

2.2       For Music (Western),candidates possessing at least the Cambridge School Certificate may also apply provided they possess at least Grade VII or VIII of the Royal School of Music or an Advanced Certificate in Music (Western) or a qualification of comparable standard acceptable to the Ministry.

2.3       Candidates claiming to possess comparable/alternative qualifications to those mentioned at 2.1 and 2.2  above should also produce the equivalence thereof.

2.4       The monthly fees payable are as follows:

A.               Rs 23,380 to those who possess a Degree or joint Degree;

B.                Rs 17,380 to those who possess a Diploma; and

C.                Rs 13,980 to those who possess a Higher School Certificate or equivalent qualifications or School Certificate + additional qualifications required.

However, payment will be effected on a pro-rata basis where work is performed for less than one month.

2.5       Bus fares will be refunded on the basis of the number of days of attendance at the approved rates.

3.         MODE OF APPLICATION

            Applications should be made on the prescribed forms obtainable at the:-

·                    Enquiry Unit of the Ministry of Education and Human Resources, Ground Floor, MITD House, Phoenix

·                    Educational Zone 1, Mutual Aid Building, Phase II, Level 3, Guy Rozemont Square, Port Louis.

·                    Educational Zone 2, Sir F Herchenroder Street, Beau Bassin.

·                    Educational Zone 3, Rose Belle (opposite Grand Port Savanne District Council).

·                    Educational Zone 4, Jhugroo Building, St Paul Road, Vacoas.

The Application Forms should be submitted along with copies of the Birth, Marriage, Academic and Professional Certificates, PSSA Registration Certificate (if available)and evidence of teaching experience, if any. 

4.         IMPORTANT

(i)                Candidates should clearly indicate on their Application Forms the subject for which they are applying.  Failure to do so may entail their elimination from the competition.

(ii)             Candidates willing to be considered for more than one subject should fill in separate Application Forms.

(iii)           Incomplete, inadequate or inaccurate filling of the Application Form may entail elimination of the applicant. Only the prescribed Application Form should be used.

(iv)           Only the best qualified candidates will be called for interview.

5.         CLOSING DATE OF APPLICATIONS

Qualified candidates are requested to submit their applications so as to reach the Acting Senior Chief Executive [Attn. Human Resource Section (Secondary), Ministry of Education and Human Resources, 2^nd Floor, MITD House, Phoenix not later than 19 May 2014.
